Spring Forward With Your Suit Game!

As the weather begins to take a turn for the better, it’s a great time to re-evaluate what’s in your closet.

During the winter months we generally gravitate towards heavier, muted fabrics to see us through these darker days. Among the many practical reasons for this,  it could also be a subconscious reflection of our mood. In any case, spring is a time of new life; keep pace with it and add new life to your wardrobe with brighter colours.  How can you brighten things up while remaining clean, sophisticated and classic?

A simple way is to invest in a statement blazer. The key to successfully doing this is to know your go-to colour. For example, Kemar loves red–primary red. However a brilliant primary red jacket may not shout clean, sophisticated or class. So the trick is to find the subdued, softened version of this colour. Choose a cloth with texture, and pair it with colours that can support the statement jacket like a foundation. If the rest of your outfit is simple, then nothing will be in competition visually.

As another option, consider a classic coloured suit such as navy. Kemar looks great in a dark navy suit. But now it’s spring! So to reflect a lighter mood Kemar adds depth and freshness to his wardrobe, by selecting a fabric a few shades lighter than a classic navy. Why not try something similar? Pair a suit like this with a light, spring-coloured tie or shirt, add a contrasting pocket square, and you too can add new life to your wardrobe this spring.
